About Dr. Bonacquisti
Alexa Bonacquisti, PhD, PMH-C (she/her)
Choosing a therapist is an important decision, and it has to be the right fit in order to be most effective.
I am happy to offer a 15-minute consultation at no charge for you to connect with me and discuss your goals prior to scheduling a first appointment.
I am a licensed psychologist specializing in perinatal mental health and reproductive psychology. I am certified in perinatal mental health (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International, and I have over 10 years of experience providing psychological assessment and treatment to individuals across the lifespan, with specific expertise in treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and supporting families with the transition to parenthood. I also have experience working with women and families who are navigating stressful reproductive life events, such as pregnancy loss, infertility, birth trauma, and infant admission to a neonatal intensive care unit.
I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, with a concentration in Health Psychology. I completed my clinical internship in Women’s Mental Health at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC. I then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Women’s Health Psychology Lab and Mother Baby Connections program at Drexel University. I have published and presented on a range of topics relevant to women’s mental health and reproductive psychology (see full list of publications here).
In addition to my private practice, I am an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), where I teach doctoral students in clinical psychology and conduct research on perinatal mental health.
